The Alberton Gorge - Montana's Best Whitewater Adventure
Just west of Missoula the Clark Fork River picks up speed and tumbles into the Alberton Gorge, Montana's premier summer whitewater run. If you want flat out fun and the best whitewater raft trip in Montana, this is it! Hidden deep within this spectacular canyon are rollicking Class II, III and IV rapids such as Tumbleweed, Boateater, and Fang to name just a few. Unlike many rivers in the West the Alberton Gorge offers an exciting whitewater raft trip both early and late in the season. At high water during late May and June the Gorge can flow at twice the volume of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado with huge waves and big powerful rapids. At lower flows, as more rocks emerge and the rapids become more defined in mid and late summer, the Gorge becomes a whitewater playground for rafting, riverboarding, kayaking and canoeing. The scenery is amazing and includes billion year old cliffs carved out by the legendary ice age floods of Glacial Lake Missoula. Between rapids paddlers have a chance to swim, relax, and soak up the sun, and watch for eagles, osprey, kingfishers, as well as the occasional moose, deer, bear or mountain lion. The gorge has something for everyone. At normal summer flows we take ages 5 and up.

The Blackfoot River - Whitewater and Scenic Raft Trips
The Blackfoot pours into the Clark Fork River just east of Hellgate Canyon near Missoula. With its headwaters to the north in the Bob Marshall and Scapegoat Wildernesses, the Blackfoot tumbles out of the mountains, meanders through willow-choked meadows, and picks up speed again as it rushes toward Missoula. During early season highwater the Blackfoot has long stretches of continuous Class II and III whitewater. With its fast moving currents, clear pools, friendly whitewater, and mountain scenery, the Blackfoot is truly a classic Montana river. Known for legendary dry flyfishing, the Blackfoot was the inspiration for Norman Maclean's book, A River Runs Through It. To quote Maclean, the Blackfoot "runs over rocks from the basement of time". With over 45 miles of river available to choose from, the Blackfoot offers a variety of different trips sure to give you a Montana rafting experience to remember.
